It’s Yorkshire Day and that means my first giveaway!
I’m incredibly proud of being from Yorkshire. We have everything from bustling cities to tranquil countryside. We’ve got Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and National Parks, heritage coastline, miles of National Trails, UNESCO World Heritage Sites, a thriving cultural scene and we played host to the most Tour de France Grand Depart this year. The footage from Le Tour showed the world just how incredible the Yorkshire landscape is— no wonder Lonely Planet have recommended Yorkshire as one of their top ten places in the world to visit this year!
One of the best ways to experience Yorkshire as a tourist is to get out and walk in some of our glorious countryside, perhaps with a company like Inntravel. Based right here in Yorkshire, they specialise in Slow travel, including walking holidays. They’re running a campaign called #TakeTheSlowLane in which they’re sharing people’s stories, photographs and passions around Slow travel. Slow travel is about celebrating people, places, cultures and tradition. It’s about appreciating moments in time, immersing yourself in a culture, eating local food and emerging from your travels revitalised and refreshed. Sounds pretty idyllic; definitely my kind of travelling.
They’re also committed to sustainable and responsible tourism and have award-winning customer service. Many of their holidays are accessible by train and they work predominantly with local and family-owned hotels, meaning that money stays in local communities. I love the idea of journeying by train and then setting off on a self-guided cycle tour with someone else helping me with my luggage! Sigh…
Because they’re based here in Yorkshire, Inntravel are celebrating Yorkshire Day in style with this lovely hamper of luxury Yorkshire food-the kind you would come across if you joined their Gastronomic Celebration tour of Yorkshire. I was so happy to receive mine and am delighted they have given me another to give away to one of you lucky people!
Slow travel, Yorkshire Day and local food? Perfect…
The food in the hamper is as follows:
Gravadlax from Staal Smokehouse near Beverley, East Yorkshire
Pork charcuterie from Greedy Little Pig in Shelley, West Yorkshire.
A Barncliffe Brie from The Great Yorkshire Cheese Company, also from Shelley
A bottle of the Great Yorkshire Brewery’s Two Chefs honey-thyme ale produced in Cropton, North Yorkshire
A bottle of Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil from Thixendale in North Yorkshire.
Honey and Mustard salad dressing from Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil.
I’ve been sampling the goodies in this hamper for the past couple of days which has been a joy; the chorizo from Greedy Little Pig raised me out of a cooking-for-one rut earlier this week so it’s definitely a winning hamper for me!
Enter below to have your chance at winning this lovely hamper. The competition closes on Friday 22nd August and the winner will receive their hamper at the end of the month. Open to UK entries only.
