   Hello, I was just wondering about your Jill collection. I also grew up on these books and loved them. I have a full collection of hard cover with dust jackets Horder and Broughton publications. 2 I had to buy ( one was missing and one I had was a paperback). Do you know if these have any value as collector items ? Some of the single editions are selling for $50 plus dollars !!

     Hello Ann, it sounds like a lovely collection! The value of the books depends on the condition of the book and the edition. If they’re all Hodder and Stoughton true first editions, in very good condition with very good dust covers, then they would probably be of interest to a collector. At the moment, individual books in that condition are selling for roughly £80 – £90 each, perhaps a whole collection in that condition might raise more. I think the best advice I can give you is to speak with a specialist dealer, such as Jane Badger Books who deal in pony books. Of course if you sold to a dealer you might raise less yourself, as they’re selling them at the prices I quoted above and would need to make their profit! What a lovely collection you have though, I’m hoping to collect a full set myself, a book at a time!
